MARS Privacy Policy
Effective date: 13 October 2026
MARS does not collect, store or share personal data. The Android app has no internet permission, and the iPhone and iPad app makes no internet connections, so neither can send anything anywhere by itself.
MARS (Mobile Audio Reference Speaker) is made by Marco Augusto Comba. This policy covers the MARS apps for Android and for iPhone and iPad (com.marcoaugustocomba.mars), the MARS components for macOS (MARS Connect and the MARS audio device) and the MARS pages of this website.
Audio
- External audio input (Android). The app asks for the microphone permission only to read the audio interface connected to the phone and play it on the phone speaker in real time. The phone’s built-in microphone is never used: if the input moves to it, the monitor stops. Audio is not recorded, stored or transmitted.
- Mac via USB. Audio comes from MARS Connect over the USB cable and goes straight to the speaker of the phone or tablet. It is not recorded, stored or transmitted. On iPhone and iPad the app receives it through a connection that listens only on the device itself (its loopback interface), which MARS Connect reaches through the USB cable; nothing on a network can reach it.
What stays on your device
The app keeps a few settings on the device: the selected input (Android), whether it has connected to MARS Connect once (so the setup reminder stops), a count of long listening sessions, and whether the rating card of Google Play or the App Store has been shown. They never leave the device and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
Feedback by email
Send feedback in Preferences opens your own email app with a message to the address below and some device details: model, Android or iOS version, speaker sample rate and buffer size, audio features or output latency, app version, selected input and last state. You can read and edit everything before sending, and nothing is sent unless you send the email. Feedback emails are used only to reply and to improve MARS. They are never sold or shared, and they are deleted on request.
Google Play
Google Play gives developers aggregated statistics (installs, active devices, countries, device models, Android versions) and crash reports from users who chose to share usage and diagnostics data with app developers. The rating card is shown by Google Play, and ratings and reviews are handled by Google. See the Google Privacy Policy.
App Store
Apple gives developers aggregated statistics and crash reports from users who chose to share analytics with app developers. The rating card is shown by iOS, and ratings and reviews are handled by Apple. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
Mac components
MARS Connect and the MARS audio device do not connect to the internet. They exchange audio with the phone only over the USB cable.
This website
The MARS pages of this website (www.marcoaugustocomba.com/mars/) use no cookies, analytics or trackers, and load nothing from other services. Like any web server, the hosting provider may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, page) for security and operation. If you email to be told when MARS for iPhone is ready, your address is used only for that message and deleted on request. If you join the beta test, the address of your Google account is used only to add you to the Google Play test and to write to you about it, and deleted on request.
Children
MARS is a tool for audio professionals and is not directed at children under 13.
